Sort of Revolution is the first track on its namesake album “Sort of Revolution,” British rock musician Fink’s first studio album. The track has this slightly nervous/anxious sounding music to it that would make it a great candidate for some kind of tense movie/TV show scene. But I think it works well for the track. The lyrics are pretty vague so the meaning is definitely up for debate, however, to me the lyrics just sound like life itself. There’s so much uncertainty (“let me know when we get there, if we get there”) that is sung about and multiple mentions of planning (all this time, spent saving for it) and it blends well with the music’s uneasy sound. Life itself can be nerve-wracking a lot of times. Aside from this, the final verse when the piano comes in and the chorus singers get louder is a gorgeous part of the track that outshines the rest of it.
